The 2020 Honda Ridgeline Is Not Your Average Truck
If you are an Indiana driver looking for a truck that drives like a car, look no further than the Honda Ridgeline. The 2020 model year is no exception, receiving key updates that make it, quite possibly, the wisest choice in the compact pickup truck category.
Trim Levels and Features
The Ridgeline's trim lineup has been whittled down to four members: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition. A five-seater, the Ridgeline is better equipped than your average pickup. This model year welcomes the introduction of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration as standard. This is in addition to an infotainment system that combines elements such as Bluetooth, a seven-speaker stereo system, HondaLink for remote connectivity, a USB port and an audio jack for hooking up mobile devices, hands-free text messaging, and an 8-inch touchscreen. Also standard on the Ridgeline are cruise control, remote entry, push-button engine start, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, a garage-door opener, and a dual-action tailgate and in-bed trunk.
Rear-seat USB ports, auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, HD Radio, SiriusXM Radio service, a navigation system, and an eight-speaker truck-bed audio system are just some of the enhancements brought to the RTL-E and Black Edition. And true to its name, the Black Edition is unique in its exterior styling: with its Crystal Black Pearl body finish and 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels.
Performance
The new Ridgeline derives its power from a beefy 3.5-liter 280-horsepower V6, which is pinned to the brand-new nine-speed transmission. With the standard front-wheel drive, expect to haul up to 3,500 lbs.; that increases to 5,000 lbs. thanks to the standard all-wheel drive on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
Safety
Standard on all Ridgeline trims is the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistive technologies. They include collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. Go for the RTL-E or Black Edition, and Honda adds auto high beams and a blind spot information system with a cross-traffic monitor.
