What is the Difference Between
Certified Pre-Owned and Used Vehicles?
Certified pre-owned means that the manufacturer inspects the vehicle's condition and stamps it for approval. Most cars in this category are traded in leases that weren't bought out at the end of their term. Leases can range from two to three years, and most are under 30,000 miles with no accident history. The manufacturer then thoroughly inspects these vehicles and sometimes refurbishes them to certify them as like-new vehicles.
Certified vehicles:
- May qualify for an extended warranty, whereas regular used cars do not
- Are under six years old
- Have less than 70,000 miles on the odometer
- Obtain a clean vehicle history or are refurbished by professional engineers
